Read more about Adam, in his own words:
My name is Adam Graham and I am a typically talented person. Nothing unusual I insist. Two of my uncle’s are musicians and they passed on the passion for music to me. They are about fifteen years apart in age and had very different tastes in music. One is a die hard jazzman, the other a rocker with an affinity for show tunes explaining my mixed-up tastes. They instilled in me a desire to play music and also showed me that it wasn’t pure talent that made them good. It was hard work and intellectual curiosity that allowed the innate musical ability in them to shine. I teach from this philosophy. We all are, for the most part, similarly talented. Yes, there is a curve. It is a Bell-curve and we are mostly capable of being good musicians. My goal is to give you the basic tools you will need to be able to express this natural musical ability. How far you take that is up to you.
A couple of quick notes about me: I began playing guitar at age 13 with my uncle’s encouragement. At 15, started playing in high school bands and eventually graduated from Valparaiso University with a BA in Music. A brief stint in insurance sales (It was the 80s, The Reagan Era was very confusing) led to a fairly long stint as a performer and teacher. Country line dance bands, folk acts, reggae and R 'n' B with the likes of Johnny Jackson (Jackson Five) and quirky songwriters are some of the places this strange path has led me. Oh yeah. I picked up a little mandolin along the way. I can be seen performing locally with Megan Bihn (Wormz) and Leah Nairn. Since moving to Athens in 2009, I have been fortunate enough to become friends with and work for local guitar repair gurus Dan Erlewine and Elliot John-Conry. I am now learning the skills necessary to hopefully build and repair the instruments I love so much. I have been blissfully married to Dawn for ten years and enjoy fishing, golfing, camping, cooking, and playing with my dogs.
